Music and pop culture bloggings from a non-vegan Brooklynite

This is a made-up controversy. Almost nobody actually cares that MIA flipped everyone off, and yet here we are. Still talking about the goddamn half time show. If this steaming pile of bullshit wasn’t cooked up from the beginning, I will be highly surprised.

Granted I don’t spend much time around parents of impressionable, young children, but I’ve yet to encounter a single person who actually cares about this. Moreover, I watched this halftime show and didn’t even see this gesture — I did, however, immediately see it on Twitter (thanks, Brooklyn Vegan) and then 100 other blogs.
As Sasha Frere-Jones so eloquently said, “I’d like to raise both of my middle fingers to… anyone who thinks profanity is somehow more harmful to our children than images of violence and misogyny.” Why is no one complaining about all that Madonna upskirt action? That was way more offensive to my eyes.
SF-J is right that M.I.A. shouldn’t have apologized. Everyone knows she isn’t sorry, and apologizing just makes her look like a clown - unless she were to say, “I’m sorry I’m not sorry.”
Can we go back to bitching about Lana Del Rey now?
